About Redfish Pass

Redfish Pass links Pine Island Sound to the Gulf. On fall ebbs the sound's mullet leave through it and the neighboring passes.

The north tip of Captiva gives limited shore access; most anglers fish it by boat.

Why fish here during the run

• Deep water close to the beach concentrates bait and predators.
• Pine Island Sound holds big numbers of mullet before the run.
• Snook and tarpon feed along the pass.

Angler tips

• Boat anglers do best drifting the edges on the ebb.
• From shore, fish the Captiva side at the tip.
• Current is strong — plan anchoring carefully.

Access & conditions notes

• Captiva has very limited parking.
• Wind, pressure, and water temperature come from the NOAA Fort Myers station.
