About Destin East Pass

East Pass is the only connection between Choctawhatchee Bay and the Gulf, so everything leaving the bay funnels through it. The Choctawhatchee River feeds the bay from the east, and a rise in river flow after heavy rain adds to the outflow.

Jetties line the pass, and Norriego Point sits on the harbor side. Expect heavy boat traffic in season.

Why fish here during the run

• One bay, one exit — the flow is concentrated.
• Jetty rocks hold redfish, sheepshead, and jacks waiting on bait.
• The score includes Choctawhatchee River flow, a sign of how hard the bay is flushing.

Angler tips

• Fish the ebb; the incoming tide brings clear Gulf water but less bait movement.
• Work the tips of the jetties where the current seam forms.
• Be ready for fast current and boat wakes near the channel.

• Shore access is along the jetties and the Norriego Point area; parking fills quickly on fall weekends.
• Wind, pressure, and water temperature come from the NOAA Panama City Beach station.
• River flow is read from the Choctawhatchee River gauge near Bruce.
